I am Shammi Coorey, an accomplished professional with nearly 30 years of experience in accounting, finance, human resources, and administration. My career has been shaped by working with both multicultural and multinational organizations, allowing me to develop a broad skill set and a strong sense of adaptability. Academically, I hold an MSc in Financial Management from Middlesex University, London, and a B.Com (Special) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

Currently, I serve as the Founder, Managing Director, and CEO of One New Change (Pvt) Ltd, a private limited company based at No. 42 Moratumulla East Road, Moratuwa, officially registered under business number PV 00240027. As the 70% shareholder, I lead the company with vision and purpose, committed to growth and innovation. My husband Ramesh Coorey, who supports the business as a director.

In addition to my corporate background, I have pursued professional training in two key areas that reflect my entrepreneurial passions: inbound tourism and herbal cosmetic manufacturing. I completed inbound tourism training through ATFL Sri Lanka and gained hands-on experience in herbal cosmetic production through leading local institutions such as IICA, IDB, ITI, and Aika.

While currently engaged in the herbal cosmetics sector, I am preparing to expand into tourism—a field I am deeply passionate about. With Sri Lanka emerging as a top global destination, I see a timely opportunity to contribute meaningfully to its tourism industry. My goal is to create authentic, memorable travel experiences that highlight the island’s beauty, culture, and warm hospitality. I believe in offering more than just services—I strive to build connections with travelers, ensuring they leave with unforgettable memories and a desire to return.

Driven by purpose and backed by experience, I am committed to building ventures that deliver quality, promote sustainability, and celebrate the unique spirit of Sri Lanka.

Whether you crave tropical sunshine or a refreshing mountain climate, Sri Lanka offers both — often just a few hours apart by road.

From the sun-kissed southern coast to the rain-soaked central hills, the variety in climate ensures that every corner of the island has its own beauty and atmosphere.

Why Sri Lanka Captivates Every Traveler?

A Land of Ever-Changing Weather and Breathtaking Landscapes

🛕 A Tapestry of Cultures and Religions

Sri Lanka is not just geographically diverse — it’s culturally rich and spiritually profound. Within this small island, you’ll find a beautiful blend of ethnic groups, languages, customs, and religious beliefs.

  • Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians live side by side, practicing their faiths freely.
  • Sacred sites like Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth), Adam’s Peak, Kataragama, and Nagadeepa reflect centuries of spiritual history.
  • Cultural festivals like Sinhala & Tamil New Year, Vesak, Deepavali, and Christmas bring joy and color throughout the year.

This peaceful coexistence creates an environment of tolerance, respect, and celebration, which tourists find both humbling and inspiring.

🌿 Nature’s Garden: Sanctuaries, Rivers, Mountains & Oceans

In this compact island, you will find some of the world’s most stunning natural wonders. Sri Lanka is a paradise for nature lovers and eco-tourists:

  • Wildlife sanctuaries like Yala, Wilpattu, and Udawalawe protect elephants, leopards, and birds in their natural habitats.
  • Botanical gardens such as Peradeniya and Hakgala display rare and exotic plants.
  • Countless rivers, lakes, and waterfalls — like Dunhinda, Ravana Falls, and Kelani River — offer scenic spots to relax, swim, or simply breathe in fresh air.
  • The country is framed by the sparkling blue Indian Ocean, with palm-lined beaches in places like Mirissa, Arugam Bay, and Unawatuna.
  • Towering mountains and hill country, like Ella, Nuwara Eliya, and Horton Plains, offer incredible hiking, train rides, and panoramic views.

It’s like visiting multiple countries in one — from coastal bliss to highland adventure.

🤗 The Human Touch – Love, Warmth & Hospitality

All of this natural and cultural richness would mean little without the soul of Sri Lanka — its people.

What sets this island apart isn’t just its scenic beauty or historic sites — it’s the genuine love, care, and hospitality of the Sri Lankan people. Visitors are welcomed with smiles, served with kindness, and often leave with lifelong friendships.

  • Whether you’re staying in a luxury hotel or a local homestay, you’re likely to be treated as a guest of honor, not just a customer.
  • Locals go out of their way to help travelers, offer guidance, share meals, or even invite them into their homes.
  • There’s an emotional warmth that makes people feel safe, respected, and deeply cared for.

It’s no wonder tourists say, “We came for the beaches, but we’re leaving with full hearts.”

Why Sri Lanka beyond Tourism?

Sri Lanka, often called the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean,” is a destination like no other—rich in diversity, culture, nature, and warmth. Despite its small size, the island offers an extraordinary variety of experiences, from golden beaches and misty mountains to lush rainforests and ancient cities. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, wildlife lover, thrill-seeker, or simply in search of peace, Sri Lanka has something special for every kind of traveler.

Imagine stepping off a plane and landing in a country that feels like a miniature world all its own. In just 65,610 square kilometers, Sri Lanka offers what many other countries can’t deliver even in ten times the space. It is a place where nature, culture, spirituality, and kindness come together to create a holiday experience unlike any other.

Home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the country boasts over 2,000 years of cultural heritage with ancient temples, royal palaces, and sacred cities such as Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Kandy. The island’s natural beauty is equally captivating—visit the stunning tea plantations of Ella, spot leopards and elephants in national parks like Yala or Udawalawe, or enjoy a train ride through the highlands that is considered one of the most scenic in the world.

Sri Lanka also offers exceptional opportunities for adventure tourism—surfing in Arugam Bay, white-water rafting in Kitulgala, hiking in the Knuckles Mountain Range, or diving along the coral-rich southern coast. The island’s vibrant culinary scene, known for its flavorful curries, tropical fruits, and street food, adds to the sensory delight.

Beyond its natural and cultural treasures, what truly sets Sri Lanka apart is the genuine warmth and hospitality of its people. Visitors are often struck by the kindness and friendliness of locals, which makes every journey feel personal and heartfelt.

In a time when travelers are looking for meaningful, authentic, and unforgettable experiences, Sri Lanka stands out as a unique destination that touches the soul—and leaves you longing to return.

Tourism plays a vital role in Sri Lanka’s economy, serving as one of the country’s top sources of foreign exchange and employment. As a multi-faceted industry, it supports a wide range of sectors—from hospitality, transport, and food services to handicrafts, agriculture, and small businesses—creating direct and indirect income for thousands of Sri Lankans across urban and rural areas. The inflow of international visitors boosts foreign currency reserves, which is crucial for national economic stability and development.

In addition to its economic impact, tourism helps promote Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage and natural beauty on the global stage, attracting international investment and encouraging the conservation of historical and ecological sites. Sustainable tourism also fosters community development by empowering local entrepreneurs and preserving traditional arts and crafts. With its unique blend of ancient culture, biodiversity, and warm hospitality, Sri Lanka continues to grow as a sought-after travel destination—making tourism not just a key economic driver, but a pathway to inclusive growth and national pride.
